Founded in 2019, the Pravets Film Festival is the place to realize your own creativity. Young Bulgarian filmmakers, join us on June 1st, 2024 and share your films with the world.

Our mission is to give students across Bulgaria a supportive environment to exercise creativity through film, while providing feedback from real industry professionals. We challenge Bulgarian High School students to create a three to four minute film, with a twist—the film must incorporate at least three special elements from a list of twenty. The 2019 festival? A night to remember.

 

In 2019, the Chitalishte provided a regal setting for the first ever Pravets Film Festival. Bulgarian high school students from all across the country posed for photos on the red carpet, watched their films on the big screen and spoke about their films in front of a large audience. Winners were awarded a trophy by the Pravets Film Festival board of international judges. The Pravets Film Festival was founded by Shauna Ricketts, the English Teaching Assistant at Aleko Konstantinov Foreign Language High School. Both festivals utilized the expertise of about 15 objective judges from all over the world, including Bulgaria, the United States, France, Canada and Germany. The students received individualized feedback from the judges who were responsible for ranking their films. You can view previous festival films here.
